See what’s new in Eeny — There’s now a changelog at eeny.io/changelog that lists new
features, improvements and fixes as they ship — check it any time to see
what’s changed recently.
Rotate through a list, channel, or user group in order — @Eeny rotate walks a channel, a user group (rotate @group), or one of
your lists in a stable order, so everyone gets a turn instead of being picked at
random. Each pick posts a Next button to keep the rotation going, and Next
replies near-instantly even on huge channels, because the bot only checks the
members actually due next instead of scanning everyone.
Improved
Picks are quicker in channels Eeny knows — Eeny now remembers who’s a person and who’s a bot for an hour, instead of
asking Slack again on every pick. One consequence: if someone changes their
display name, it can take up to an hour before Eeny uses the new one.
August 2026 2026.8.0 – 2026.8.6
New
“Pick me” button — Anyone eligible for a pick can now volunteer to take it by pressing “Pick me” — including the person Eeny picked, who can press it to confirm they’re taking it. An Eeny Pro feature, rolling out to Pro workspaces.
Improved
Replaced picks are struck through — When a pick is replaced, by picking again or by someone volunteering, the original message now shows the old pick struck through, so it’s clear at a glance it no longer stands.
Fixed
Fair picking now resets with statistics — Resetting a channel’s, list’s, or group’s statistics now also resets Eeny Pro’s fair picking, so everyone starts even.
List info now shows who last used it — The list manager now correctly shows who most recently used a list and when — labeled “Last used” wherever it appears.
FAQ links go to the right place — Links to the FAQ from the docs and Pro pages now open the FAQ itself, and jump to the right section.
July 2026 2026.7.0 – 2026.7.3
Fixed
Exclusions now apply for lists with special characters in their name — Excluding people from a pick, an Eeny Pro feature, no longer silently fails when the list’s name contains a character like &. See Picking.
April 2026 2026.4.0 – 2026.4.1
Improved
Shorter replies — Eeny’s messages no longer show a link preview card for the eeny.io links they contain, so they take up less room in the channel.
February 2026 2026.2.0 – 2026.2.10
New
Custom pick responses — Customize the message Eeny posts when someone’s picked, per channel, list, or Slack user group. Add up to 5 messages from “Manage channel”, “Manage list”, or “Manage group”, and Eeny will use one at random each time. An Eeny Pro feature, with a 14-day free trial. See Picking.
Pick from Slack user groups — Mention a Slack user group (for example, @eeny pick @engineering) and Eeny picks someone from that group, or reset the group’s statistics the same way. An Eeny Pro feature — existing workspaces need to reinstall Eeny to grant the extra permission it requires.
Improved
Consistent buttons everywhere you manage or view something — Managing or viewing a channel, group, or list now always offers the same buttons — Show statistics, Custom responses, and Pick now where it applies — instead of a different set depending on where you asked.
Clearer missing-permission messages — When a feature needs a permission Eeny doesn’t have, the message now says exactly which permission is missing and links straight to the install page to grant it.
Fixed
Newly granted permissions now take effect immediately — Reinstalling Eeny to grant additional permissions (for example, to enable picking from user groups) now applies right away, without needing to wait or reinstall again.
January 2026 2026.1.0 – 2026.1.6
Improved
Cleaner statistics layout — Statistics now render in a proper table with columns for position, user, and pick count, instead of the old plain-text block.
Nicer member lists — The “show list” response now displays members as a formatted bulleted list instead of inside a code block.
December 2025 2025.12.0 – 2025.12.1
Fixed
“Manage list” works again everywhere — the button had stopped responding on some older list messages.
November 2025 2025.11.0
New
Eeny Pro — Eeny now offers a paid Pro plan with a 14-day free trial. Type @Eeny pro in any channel to start a trial, subscribe, buy a one-off month of credit, or manage an existing subscription’s billing and payment details. See eeny.io/pro for what’s included.
Fair picking — Picks can now be weighted toward people who haven’t been picked recently instead of being purely random, so the same person isn’t repeatedly singled out. An Eeny Pro feature.
Pick multiple people at once — Ask Eeny to pick more than one person in a single go, for example @Eeny pick 3, picking up to three at a time. Each person picked gets their own “pick again” button so you can re-roll just them. An Eeny Pro feature.
Exclude people from a pick — Leave specific people out of a pick with @Eeny pick excluding @person, without having to remove them from a list first. An Eeny Pro feature.
Improved
Simpler help message — Asking Eeny for help now shows a short list of the most common commands plus links to the full documentation and FAQ, instead of one long message.
