Pro Features
Section titled “Pro Features”Fair Picking
Section titled “Fair Picking”Replace purely random selection with a fairer form of random selection that biases picks toward people who haven’t been selected recently. This advanced Slack app feature addresses the common concern “why do I keep getting picked?” while maintaining randomness for natural team rotation.
How it works:
- Analyzes pick history for the channel or list
- People picked less frequently have higher chances of being selected
- Still includes randomness - it’s not a strict rotation
- Applies to the initial pick (not “pick again” actions)
- Works with single picks, multiple picks, and user exclusions
Commands work exactly the same:
- @Eeny pick
- @Eeny pick Daily Standup
- @Eeny pick 3 from Code Reviewers
The fair picking runs automatically in the background - no special commands needed.

Multiple Picks
Section titled “Multiple Picks”This Slack workspace management feature lets you pick up to 3 people at once for situations where you need multiple volunteers or want to assign multiple roles to your team members.
Examples:
- @Eeny pick 2 - picks 2 people from the channel
- @Eeny pick 3 from Daily Standup - picks 3 people from your custom list
Pick Again Options: When multiple people are picked, you get granular control:
- “Pick again” - re-picks all selected users
- Individual buttons - re-pick just one specific person
This means if you pick 3 people but only want to change one selection, you can re-pick just that person without affecting the others.

User Exclusion
Section titled “User Exclusion”This premium Slack bot feature lets you exclude specific users from picks without modifying your lists. Perfect for when team members are out of office, unavailable, or already handling other responsibilities.
Examples:
- @Eeny pick excluding @User1 - pick from all users in the channel, except @User1
- @Eeny pick from Daily Standup excluding @User1 @User2 - pick from a list, excluding users
- @Eeny pick from @engineering excluding @User3 - pick from a Slack group, excluding users
- @Eeny pick 2 from Code Review excluding @User3 - multiple picks with exclusions
Flexible exclusions:
- Exclude one or multiple users
- Works with channel picks, list picks, group picks, and multiple picks
- Exclusions are temporary - they only apply to that specific pick and any related “pick again” actions
- Your original lists and groups remain unchanged
Slack Group Picking
Section titled “Slack Group Picking”Pick directly from Slack’s built-in user groups (@groups) without creating separate lists in Eeny. This Slack workspace management feature is perfect for teams that already organize people using Slack’s user group system.
How it works:
- Use any Slack user group (also called @groups or usergroups)
- Eeny picks from current group members automatically
- No need to maintain duplicate lists in Eeny
- Group membership updates in Slack are reflected immediately
- Works with all other Pro features (fair picking, multiple picks, exclusions)
Examples:
- @Eeny pick @engineering - picks from the @engineering group
- @Eeny pick 2 from @frontend-team - picks 2 people from @frontend-team
- @Eeny pick from @designers excluding @User1 - picks from @designers, excluding specific users
Note: This feature requires the usergroups:read permission, which is included in the default Eeny installation. If you used a custom installation, you may need to reinstall with updated permissions.

Combining Features
Section titled “Combining Features”All Pro features work together seamlessly. For example:
@Eeny pick 3 from @engineering excluding @User1 @User2This command:
- Uses fair picking to bias toward less frequently picked users
- Picks from the @engineering Slack group
- Excludes @User1 and @User2 from consideration
- Picks 3 people from the remaining group members
- Gives you individual “pick again” buttons for fine-grained control
